Olive tradition since Roman times

Generation after generation, uninterruptedly since the 18th century, the ancestors of the Rama Calero family have preserved the legacy of the El Condado region, which is the cradle of the olive-growing tradition in the province of Jaén. Its history in this place in the south of Spain dates back more than a thousand years, as evidenced by the pieces of stones from the Roman period of the olive oil mill that are still treasured in the old family oil mill.

A pioneer family

It is in this area of ​​the countryside, on the border of Jaén, at the gates of the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, where the descendants of a saga of farmers maintain the cultivation of olive trees that at least dates back to 1860. It was then when the Calero brothers started the family business that today continues with the same vocation as the first day, although adapted to the new times.

It is in 1958 when Leopoldo Rama takes over the reins of the family oil mill and begins to market family olive oil beyond the limits of Jaén, successfully exporting it to other parts of Spain to make a delicacy still unknown to many reach the general public. , directly "from the producer to the consumer". A pioneering concept that was ahead of the incipient olive industry of the moment.

Chiclana de Segura

The extra virgin olive oil that is made, of the highest quality, is produced in the surroundings of Chiclana de Segura, belonging to the Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin (Jaén).

This special enclave, in the foothills of the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas National Park, gives our EVOO unique characteristics.

Olive groves of the picual variety are centuries old. Most of them grown in high mountains, at an altitude between 600 and 900 meters above sea level, the result is an extra virgin olive oil with a fruity aroma, with a bitter, spicy touch and low acidity.
